After a bit of a time out from running my business and obsessively checking my email like I normally do, I'm back. Rested, rejuvenated, and ready to kick some 2013 booty!

I shared this in an email that I sent out to my newsletter subscribers yesterday (do you subscribe?), and I want to share it here, too, because I think it's going to make a big difference for me this year in how well I do sticking to the new intentions I've set.

I always get all jazzed up and organized at the end of each year, reviewing everything and writing down what I'd like to aspire to for the coming year.... and then I get off track by, oh, like the 2nd week of January. Because I write everything in a notebook and then totally forget about it-- I don't see it every day, and I don't usually put systems in place to make sure that I stay on track and see daily reminders of where I'd like to put my focus. Then I feel bad about myself. (Can you relate?)

I worked through Leonie Dawson's 2013 Incredible Year Workbook last week, and I loved her idea of creating a list of incredible habits that you write down and hang on your wall, so you can see them every day. I changed the word 'incredible' to 'nourishing' in my version, but the idea is essentially the same. Create a visual reminder of what I'd like to remember and practice each day in 2013. (It's kinda scary to share them here, but I'm doing it anyway! Hopefully it'll inspire you to make your own list if it seems like a useful exercise.)

So. These are the nourishing habits that I'd like to begin cultivating and/or continue to cultivate throughout 2013:

Some things on the list feel scary to me:
  • Meditate? I've been avoiding that for years. I'm not sure why, but it's been on my list of things I'd like to start doing for as many new years past as I can remember. This is my year.
  • Answer emails only once a day? But what am I going to do when I want to procrastinate besides getting stuck in my inbox??
  • Single task. NO idea how to do this. But all I know is that my multi-tasking ways are making me feel super overextended allllll the time, and it has to stop.

Some of them feel exciting:
  • One entire day of doing nothing but creating (painting, making new patterns, drawing) each week? Oh, the joy? I'm definitely not doing this now, and I think it's going to change my life.
  • Take lots of photos. Big YES to that! That also involves learning how to use my real camera (aka: not my iPhone camera) a lot better.
  • Walking outside every day. Trees are my muse. The sky fills me. Honestly, there's nothing like a good walk in the fresh air to get my creative juices buzzing through my body. This one is a must.

And my word for the year: DEEPEN.

But I actually had a bit of clarity yesterday and realized that needs to be changed to DEEP BRAVERY. For me this means:
  • Doing the things that are hard and scary, and doing them with grace. Saying YES to them.
  • Creating boundaries. And sticking to them.
  • Deepen into the things that light me up, that might go against long ingrained habits and beliefs around work and money.
  • Deepening my focus on creativity and making new art.
  • Deepening into spirit and connection with the universe and exploring the ways I might do that.
  • Giving myself EXPLORATORY CREATIVE SPACE.
  • Slowing down, single task-ing, and intensifying important pieces of and habits in my life, while letting go of ones that aren't quite right.

What's on YOUR nourishing habits list for 2013?

I created a free template that you can download, so you can join in the list-making fun! Yes. Just click the image below to get a high-res version that you can print out, fill in, and hang on your wall in all its possibility-filled glory.

You can get the kit RIGHT HERE.
It's just $15 and will help keep you on track with your goals and intentions all year long. No more of this pooping out while we're still in January business! :)
