The premise is to take a book, leave a book. It's all free, and it's all in the name of sharing books and building community. You can build your own free library and then register it on the Little Free Library website, and then you'll be put on their map of locations! I just looked to see if there are some Little Free Libraries in Portland, and there are!! But not in my neighborhood-- I'm so inspired by this idea, I think I might see if Ryan wants to build one with me to put in our front yard! Doesn't that sound fun? I see lots of people walking and biking by, so I bet it would get some action.

Mine would be bright and colorful, of course. Ooooh, can't you just picture the fun I could have decorating a little mini house?? It might take some convincing to get Ryan to help me, since he's starting his residency and will be working about a million hours a week now, but I bet I can do it. He likes making things. :)

Are you inspired by this idea like I am? Would you put a little free library in your yard??

books on our walks and we save all of her old books to donate to them back into the community! I can't wait to see what you come up with - I'm sure it will be wonderful, just like you!
And, our mailbox is a slot in our front door. So, what a wonderful and fun reason to walk to the street together each day! It would be a thrill for my 6 and 8 year old! The only other one like this I've seen is a cart in our local library. I've used it but
keep forgetting to bring books back to place there. This is a great way to keep the giving going. -- I'm going to hit my handy husband up to help this weekend! Thanks for sharing Jessica!
