This is a print of painting #42 from my ‘100 Messages To Myself‘ painting series.
I’m getting lots of opportunities in my life lately to practice being clear and direct in my communications with other people. Sometimes it goes better than others! But I’m grateful for these opportunities because I’m valuing and trusting myself more than I have in the past and am realizing that my feelings matter, too, and that I deserve not to discount the way I feel in favor of believing what others feel or not wanting to upset them in some way. Tell the truth and get to the heart of it instead of shimmying around what’s actually wants or needs to be said. That’s what I’m trying to do lately (with varying results)! Practice practice practice… (Here‘s the message I wrote when I painted it.)
My life changed dramatically in August 2018 when my husband suddenly died and then again in January 2019 when my baby girl was born. It’s been a strange 15 months! Creating nearly daily art has been one of the main ways I’ve tuned in to my feelings and to myself as I’ve moved forward. Sharing the art that I’ve been making and the messages I’ve been giving to myself has been a powerfully healing part of my journey, and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to share my images and thoughts with you.
