This is a print of painting #12 from my ‘100 Messages To Myself‘ painting series.
Holding true to what’s true for me and doing my best not to let other people’s opinions and experiences sway it. The ultimate practice. Listen listen listen to my gut! Don’t take on what’s not mine! Be direct, compassionate, and ask for what I need! Do what feels right for me and let that be ok! I’ll never be able to get inside anyone else’s head to know what’s really going in there; I can only live inside my own. And I want to feel good and supported and strong and safe and loved in there! (I do feel that way. But I’m working on feeling MORE that way.) ps – this was fun to paint. I always come back to painting birds sooner or later. I wonder how many I’ve painted over the years? (Here‘s the full message I wrote when I painted it.)
My life changed dramatically in August 2018 when my husband suddenly died and then again in January 2019 when my baby girl was born. It’s been a strange 15 months! Creating nearly daily art has been one of the main ways I’ve tuned in to my feelings and to myself as I’ve moved forward. Sharing the art that I’ve been making and the messages I’ve been giving to myself has been a powerfully healing part of my journey, and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to share my images and thoughts with you.
